Queensland Mosques support the call for Sanctuary

Key Muslim organisations in Queensland have resolved to support the call for sanctuary in a meeting at Slacks Creek Mosque. The meeting was organised by the Islamic Council of Queensland, the peak Muslim organisations representing 14 mosques.

We respect the courage and compassion of Dr Peter Catt, his colleagues and their congregations in declaring churches as a safe space for the most vulnerable of asylum seekers. The plight of asylum seekers transcends race, religion and culture.

The Muslim community will not only support but join in by opening Slacks Creek and Logan Mosque to the asylum seekers. Members of the Muslim community will stand hand in hand with our Christian brothers and sisters in ensuring the sanctity of Churches and Mosques are maintained.
